9 of us enjoyed a sunny walk over Blackheath, through Greenwich Park and seeing parts of the old Royal Naval College. My photos below… please add your own if you took them.
Points of discussion…
Neither Andy nor I were right about what constitutes the Pool of London… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pool_of_London

As for my day….
As you know, my car will not start…RAC booked to come this evening…
it meant an early start on the 7:33 bus to catch the train at Aylesbury. The direct line to London was closed for emergency engineering work so I was on a slightly earlier train than originally planned.
All went well, we all met, the rain stopped as the walk started.
I had to curtail the walk early in order to be able to catch the train home that connected with the last bus from Aylesbury at 17:55.
Just before Princes Risborough the train did an emergency stop. Eventually the driver said a safety system on board had played up, he had reset it but the train would terminate at Risborough and they would send a bus. So no way I would catch last bus from Aylesbury.
Inspired by the challenge I checked time of last bus from Bicester, was told I could go there at no extra charge and got to Bicester in time for bus.
The good news is….
…didn’t have to pay for taxi
…will get some or all of train fare back
… had time to buy some stuff in Sainsbury’s before bus left
… bus didn’t break down
…home by 7
BUT
card in door saying RAC were there at 4:30pm. Rang them and operator saw note said ‘after 6:30pm’ so now rebooked for tomorrow afternoon
and
broke my tooth on piece of toast whilst writing this. More expense this month!
More good news…
enjoyed all the day inc adventure/challenge of getting home.
See you on April 6th for Cockfosters to Barnet walk or before that when I go to dentist in Ealing Road….

Update:
RAC fixed car on Sunday… corroded connection to starter so now works again.
Realised tooth not broken but it was a crown that had come off… rang dentist on Monday at 8:15am expecting to have to wait for a week for an appointment but there was one available at 11:15am so quick journey back to Wembley and all done and dusted by 11:30! Wasn’t time to arrange to see anyone unfortunately between getting appointment booked and setting off on journey.
Two things that could have been expensive sorted – God is good!
